NULON Race Engine Oils
NULON race engine oil is manufactured in Australia. The 100% full synthetic oil is primarily designed for high load engines as used in motorsport but can also be used to protect highly modified street engines.
Grade 5 is the highest refined base oil on the market and is used on all race oil products in the NULON range. Some oil brands that advertise as full synthetic continue to use a Grade 3 oil base which is an Ester mineral-based oil.
The NULON brand has been designed to maintain protection to high load and temperature engines. The product has been derived from motorsport participation within road racing and drag racing.
The oil is compatible with engines that run on E85 due to its high anti-wear and anti-friction properties that also act as an absorption barrier to the corrosive fuel.
This brand of oil is popular with V8 Supercar teams and engine build specialist such as KRE in Queensland. This is the only brand of oil we use in the engine and driveline of all race cars through our service company RP Motorsport Developments.
If you are unsure of the correct grade for your engine, contact us via our contact page or please refer to your engine builder's recommendation.
General rule of thumb -
- If the engine is not highly modified, use the same weight as the standard engine
- If the engine oil runs hot, go up one weight in engine oil from standard
- If the engine runs on E85, go up one grade/weight from standard
- For low horsepower unmodified modern engines running a lower grade/weight may increase horsepower but may also increase wear
- For high horsepower engines with big oil clearances, use a higher grade/weight of oil. For example, high horsepower drag engines will use 10w60 oil
NOTE: The use of this oil on street driven cars may cause damage to the standard catalytic convertor over a long period of time. We recommend this oil is only used on vehicles that are fitted with high-flow aftermarket exhaust convertors.
For modified engines manufactured from the 30's to the 80's, you can alternatively use the synthetic Street & Track version of the NULON oil brand available in oil grades of 15w50 or the mineral based high zinc 25w60 oil.
